Terms & Conditions
The Terms and Conditions listed below are included in registration of players and volunteers. These Terms and Conditions must be agreed upon before registration can be completed and the player parent or volunteer can participate in softball activities for the Thousand Oaks Girls Softball Association.
Liability and Medical Release
TOGSA maintains limited secondary accident/medical insurance for participation. TOGSA recommends that participants maintain their own medical/accident insurance. I, the parent or legal guardian of the above participant, a minor, hereby authorizes the coaches, assistant coaches or parents of the team members acting in the capacity of activity supervisors/vehicle drivers, as my agents to consent to medical, surgical or dental examination and/or treatment. In case of emergency I hereby authorize treatment and or care at a hospital.
Volunteering
The Thousand Oaks Girls Softball Association and would not exist without the dedication and selflessness of the numerous hardworking volunteers. Volunteers are what make Thousand Oaks girls softball a fun and joyful reality for our girls. Volunteers are always needed. If you wish to participate as a volunteer, please indicate what position you would like to volunteer for.
Snack Shack Duty
Volunteering in the snack shack is required of all parents. Please notify your Team Manager if you do not intend to volunteer in the snack shack so that a replacement can be scheduled. Failure to volunteer in the snack shack results in forfeiture of the snack shack deposit of $30.00 (which was included as part of the Recreation Season Registration fee). The snack shack deposit will be refunded upon completion of snack shack duty.
Managers, Coaches, Team Parent, Team Photographer, and Scorekeeper
Volunteers who wish to become a Manager, a Coach, a Team Parent, a Team Photographer, or a Scorekeeper, or any other adult having contact with the players at any time are required to have a completed and approved background check from the Amateur Softball Association (ASA). Please register as a Volunteer online (valid email address required) or download the ASA Background Check form, complete the form, and return the form and requested copy of identification to the TOGSA Player Agent as soon as possible. This will allow time for TOGSA to prepare/submit the forms to ASA and for ASA to complete the approval process prior to the TOGSA player evaluation and draft in early January 2015.
Scorekeepers
Volunteers are needed to keep the official score book for each game. Teams should provide a parent to score the game. Home team for each game is expected to provide a scorekeeper to keep the official score book for the game.
By consenting to this terms and conditions, you authorize TOGSA to submit the information entered as a volunteer electronically, via mail, fax or phone, to the ASA to complete your ASA background check.
Dugout and Field
Only players, managers, coaches, or any other person who have been cleared by a current ASA background check and approved by TOGSA are allowed in the dugout, on the field, or have contact with players.
Team Formation / Draft
- 6U Division - Teams are formed primarily by school attended by player to allow for schoolmates to play together. Special requests prior to team formation will be taken into consideration and satisfied where possible. Players registering after team formation are placed on teams based on team player count to allow players maximum playing time. Special requests may be considered when possible, but there is no guarantee, implied or otherwise, that the request will be fulfilled.
- 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U Division - Teams are selected using a Draft based on player evaluations for equality of competition. Special requests prior to draft maybe be taken in consideration by drafting managers, but there is no guarantee, implied or otherwise, that the request will be fulfilled. Team placement after the draft will be done in the best interests of the league which may include a lottery.
Special Requests - Special requests may be accepted by either including in Comments section during the registration process, or by notifying the Player Agent or President. Special requests must be made prior to the Draft.
Manager/Coach Red Card
A Registrant may make a request "Red Card" not to play for a specific manager by contacting the Player Agent or President or stating the request in the Comments section of registration. A request to play for a specific manager or coach will not be accepted in the 8U or higher divisions. Only one Red Card request can be made per player and must be received prior to the Draft. Red Card request must be made for cause and first-hand knowledge. Red Card requests must be made in writing are considered serious and are kept confidential. A manager will only be notified to bypass a player if the manager happens to select that player during the Draft. No reason will be given to the manager. Misuse or misrepresentation of the Red Card request will not be tolerated and could result in sanctions, including expulsion, imposed by the Board.
